Established Endowments
Creating a gift in the form of an endowment will provide funding for the DuBois Area School District (DASD) in perpetuity. It is a perfect way to establish an enduring legacy in honor or memory of a loved one. Below you can read all about the many endowed funds that have been established. Scholarship Endowments
Dorothea E. Kyriazis Scheidemantel Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship Amount: $1,000.00
Scholarship Criteria: This scholarship is for rising seniors who are in good academic standing and who are applying to an accredited college, university, or trade school. This scholarship is intended to assist with expenses associated with the application process and other senior-related activities, not necessarily tuition. Students must demonstrate financial need and be in good standing with academics, attendance, and discipline.
Jim Suplizio/Larry Beighey Memorial Scholarship Endowment
Scholarship Amount: $1,000.00
Scholarship Criteria: Open and available to all DAHS students.
Dorothy and Delos Hibner Memorial Scholarship Endowment
Scholarship Amount: $1,000.00
Scholarship Criteria: Open and available to all DAHS students.
Dr. Albert Varacallo Memorial Scholarship Endowment
Scholarship Amount: $500.00
Scholarship Criteria: This scholarship is for a graduating senior in good standing with a cumulative GPA of “B” or higher, who has been accepted to an accredited college or university to pursue a degree in health care profession. The student does not need to demonstrate financial need.
Irene McNeil Memorial Scholarship Endowment
Scholarship Amount: $1,000.00
Scholarship Criteria: This scholarship is for a female student in good academic standing. Funds must be used for tuition and/or books required for a course leading to a certification or degree at any trade/technical, community college, or four-year college/university.
Class of 1965 Scholarship Endowment
Scholarship Amount: $500.00
Scholarship Criteria: The purpose of this scholarship shall be to provide financial assistance to qualified students to pursue post-secondary education at an accredited institute of higher education which would include universities, four-year college, junior colleges, community colleges, and trade school. Students applying for this scholarship must 1.) exhibit that they are a well-rounded student and actively involved in school and/or community-based extracurricular or volunteer activities; and 2.) demonstrate a financial need.
Drs. Shirish and Manjula Shah Endowment Scholarship for STEM Endowment
Scholarship Amount: $1,000.00
Scholarship Criteria: The purpose of this endowment shall be to provide a scholarship to a graduating senior who has been accepted to an accredited college or university to pursue a degree in a STEM type program. Students applying for scholarship must 1.) rank in the top 25% of their class; 2.) be community-service minded; and 3.) demonstrate a financial need.
Shirley Ann (Phillips) Memorial Scholarship Endowment
Scholarship Amount: $500 - $1,000
Award Criteria: The purpose of this endowment shall be to recognize and reward students who demonstrate school spirit and support by demonstrating pride in DAHS; being involved in-school activities/clubs and/or extracurricular activities; serving as a positive role model to peers; and showing support and team spirit for DAHS extracurricular activities through attendance at events, participation in fundraisers, and/or encouraging teams/team members.
Ken Brinker Endowed Scholarship for Track and Field Student-Athletes
Scholarship Amount: $5,000.00
Award Criteria: The purpose of this scholarship endowment is to provide financial assistance to two graduating senior track and field / cross-country student-athletes (one male and one female) to pursue their dreams of post-secondary educations at accredited institutes of higher education which would include universities, four-year colleges, junior colleges, community colleges, and trade schools. Student-athletes being awarded this scholarship must have participated in the sport of track & field or cross country for at least one full season and, during that time, demonstrated leadership, showed commitment to the sport, and displayed team spirit. In addition, scholarship candidates must also be in good standing with academics, attendance and discipline and have a financial need.
DuBois Area High School Alumni Award Endowment
Scholarship Amount: $2,000.00
Award Criteria: The purpose of this award is to provide recognition to two graduating seniors who have an established post-secondary plan. Post-Secondary plans may include attending public or private universities, colleges, community colleges, career/technical schools, vocational/trade schools, centers for continuing education, campus apprenticeship programs, military training, or seeking employment. Students applying for this award must 1.) verify that they are in good overall standing with academics, attendance, and discipline; 2.) exhibit that they are a well-rounded student and actively involved in school and/or community-based extracurricular or volunteer activities; and 3.) outline their established post-secondary plan.
Nathan Vanderpool Memorial Scholarship - One time scholarship for 21-22 SY
Scholarship Amount: $1,100.00
Award Criteria: This scholarship is for a student in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of “B” or higher and is a member of the swim team. Funds must be used for tuition and/or books required for a course leading to a certification or degree at any trade/technical, community college, or four-year college/university.
